Stay healthy in your international travels

When travelling overseas from New Zealand, it is important to be vaccinated against common communicable diseases. Our professional doctors will give you the most up to date and correct advice based on your next destination.

While the centers for disease control identify many countries as safe, most have at least some risks of health problems and others may require a vaccine for entry.

Before making the final arrangements of your next trip, get in touch with us for the latest health information and let us guide you through the best way of taking care of yourself whilst abroad.

What to expect during a travel consultation?

Before the consultation

When you make an appointment with us you will need to state;

  • Your travel destination(s)
  • The duration of the trip
  • The activities you have planned during the trip

You will also be asked about your health and any medication you are currently taking.

We will prepare vaccination and malaria advice for you based on the information.

During the consultation

Depending on your specific travel plans, the current health climate, and your individual needs, our recommended vaccination and malaria advice will be given.

We can also provide most vaccinations you will need at the time of your appointment.

Malaria. If necessary, a prescription for malaria prophylaxis will be issued. You can buy the prophylaxis at your own pharmacy after the consultation.

Of course there is time during the appointment to ask your questions.

Follow-up consultation?

If necessary, a follow-up appointment will be made.

To prevent some travel illnesses, a repeat vaccination is necessary.

At the checkout you only pay for the consultation and the vaccinations/prescriptions that you have received at that time. There is an administration fee for vaccinations provided.

Costs

Costs will include the consultation fees, vaccine costs, vaccine administration fees and prescriptions if required.

Please note, we are not a yellow fever vaccine provider.

if you are wanting to book a consultation to discuss your travel needs, including vaccines and medications, please book in for a 30 min travel consultation, and clearly state the country(ies) you will be visiting and date of departure, as well as any special requirements for particular vaccinations (if known).

This allows us to prepare for your visit and order in the relevant vaccinations, as we do not stock a large supply of uncommon vaccinations; some are ordered in on an as needed basis.

You may also email us directly with this information after you have secured an appointment for the travel vaccination.

Please note that all vaccinations are at an additional costs per vaccine; some vaccination protocols require 2-3 vaccinations; and a vaccine administration fee of $30 per visit applies.

Please ensure you allow sufficient time to complete your vaccination protocols. Expediated schedules may be available for certain vaccines.
