General Medical Care
Our doctors specialise in assessing and diagnosing acute medical problems. We provide advice, recommendations and medical treatment in line with best practice standards in New Zealand.
We can also deal with chronic conditions, particularly if there has been a change in your condition requiring medical advice and intervention.
We will ensure that your consultation notes are forwarded to your GP so that he/she is aware of your changes in your health, unless you opt-out of this for personal reasons.
General Health Checks
We can provide general well-man and well-woman health checks.
This is a general health check-up that we highly recommend for every person to do at least once a year, or every 6 months if you have any chronic conditions that require monitoring.
This involves:
- Full set of measurements, including height, weight, BMI, pulse, blood pressure, visual acuity and urinalysis.
- Full health check by a doctor. This includes a full medical history, discussion of specific concerns, risk factors and recommendations.
- Additional tests such as ECG (heart tracing), spirometry (lung function tests) can be added on (please advise prior to appointment). Sometimes these tests are recommended by the doctor after the consultation if there is a strong indication for the tests.
- Blood tests - a full panel of blood tests, including general tests as well as gender or condition-specific tests, will be ordered. If we receive your booking at least 48 hours prior, a laboratory form will be provided in advance for you to undertake your blood test at any Labtest facility. Ideally this is a fasting blood test taken first thing in the morning. The results can be discussed during the consultation. Otherwise we can provide this form during the consultation, and book you in for a follow up consultation to discuss the results.
