Maintain your youthful appearance, longer. Look refreshed like you've just returned from a relaxing holiday.

Botulinum toxin injections are a simple and popular way to relax facial muscles, thereby smoothing and reducing the appearance of wrinkles.

Typically, anti-wrinkle injections are performed for:

  • Frown lines – targeting the vertical “11” lines between the eyebrows
  • Forehead lines – horizontal lines on the forehead
  • Crow’s Feet – Horizontal lines spreading from the corners of the eyes

Botulinum toxin can also be used to treat medical conditions, such as chronic migraines / headaches, excessive sweating in the armpits, blepharospasm ( upper eyelids that spasm ), tight muscles etc. There are other ‘off-label’ treatments that can be discussed with Dr. Rachel during your consultation.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is the Procedure Done?

Your first appointment will be a 45 min consultation where your concerns are discussed, and a medical history is taken.

Next, a thorough facial assessment is performed, and a treatment plan is formulated. You will have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss options for your treatment.

The actual treatment involves multiple small injections with a very tiny needle over the area of concern. You will feel a sharp sting or prick, but this is usually very well tolerated by most patients.

The entire procedure takes 10-15 min, and you may return to work or your daily activities right after your treatment. We advise that you avoid strenuous physical activity for the rest of the day, avoid rubbing the treated areas, and not to schedule any facials or facial massages for a week.

How long does the treatment take to work?

You will start seeing results within 3-4 days, and full results at 2 weeks post treatment. Occasionally, you may need to come back for a top-up treatment to certain areas (usually on the forehead).

If this is for a pre-wedding treatment, we highly recommend that you come in at least 4-6 weeks prior to your wedding day, to allow us time to provide any necessary fine adjustments.

How long does Botulinum toxin treatment last?

Results for facial treatments typically last 3-4 months, sometimes longer. There is individual variability due to various factors. Wrinkles that are deep and longstanding may need a few treatments to soften, and may not completely resolve.

For certain treatments where higher units are used, for example in the armpits for excessive sweating, the effects usually last 6-9 months.

What happens after Anti-wrinkle treatment?

Your wrinkles and fine lines will return to their original [pre-treatment] state. We recommend keeping on top of the treatments on a regular basis.

Are there risks, or side-effects?

Minor post-treatment symptoms may include redness around the injection sites (this typically resolves within 10 min), bruising (rare), or headache.   Allergic reactions to Botulinum toxin or its constituents are very rare – rest assured that our clinic is fully equipped to manage this.

It is important that you disclose your medical conditions to us during the pre-treatment consultation. If you are pregnant, breast-feeding, or have neuromuscular conditions, botulinum toxin treatments are not suitable.
